Underhill Worm Farm is a small vermicomposting operation based in Pueblo West, Colorado. We provide educational workshops, composting worms, vermicompost products, and resources that help people build healthier soil and gardens.

Do you have a retail storefront?
No. Underhill Worm Farm does not currently operate a retail storefront. Products and services are available through workshops, events, and scheduled pickups by appointment.
What are your hours?
We do not have regular business hours. Workshops, consultations, and product pickups are available by appointment.

Worms & Vermicomposting
Do you sell composting worms?
Yes. Limited quantities of composting worms may be available for local pickup. Availability varies throughout the year.
What types of worms do you raise?
We primarily raise composting worms suitable for vermicomposting systems and home compost bins.
Do you ship worms?
At this time, we primarily focus on local customers. Shipping options may become available in the future as the farm grows.
How many worms do I need to start a worm bin?
For most home systems, a half-pound to one pound of worms is a good starting point, depending on the size of the bin and the amount of food scraps generated.
Are composting worms the same as earthworms?
Not exactly. Composting worms thrive in organic matter near the soil surface, while many common earthworms prefer to live deeper in the soil.
Will composting worms survive Colorado winters?
Composting worms can survive Colorado winters if their bin is protected from freezing temperatures. Many vermicomposters move bins indoors, into garages, or provide additional insulation during cold weather. Worm activity slows significantly in winter, but a well-managed system can remain productive year-round.
Worm Tea & Soil Health
Do you sell worm tea?
We periodically offer worm tea and related soil health products. Availability may vary based on season and production capacity.
What is worm tea?
Worm tea is a liquid product made using vermicompost and water. Gardeners often use it as part of a broader soil health and plant care program.
How is worm tea used?
Many gardeners apply worm tea to soil, garden beds, containers, lawns, and landscape plants according to their specific gardening goals.
Do you offer tea spraying services?
Not currently. As Underhill Worm Farm grows, we may expand our services and offerings.

What is vermicomposting?

What can I feed composting worms?
Most fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, tea leaves, and shredded paper are suitable for worm bins.
What should not go into a worm bin?
Meat, dairy, oils, heavily processed foods, and large quantities of citrus are generally best avoided.
Does a worm bin smell?
A properly managed worm bin should have an earthy smell rather than a foul odor.
Is vermicomposting difficult?
Most people find vermicomposting surprisingly simple once they understand a few basic principles.
